The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will host the 28th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) and the 11th Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo in late October, bringing together some 3,000 exhibitors from more than 20 countries and regions. The Autumn Lighting Fair runs from 27 to 30 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, while the Outdoor and Tech Light Expo takes place from 26 to 29 October at AsiaWorld-Expo. Under the theme "Beyond Illumination", the twin fairs will highlight smart lighting, innovative display technologies, and outdoor lighting solutions that shape the future of smart and sustainable lighting.
The scale and diversity of the fairs underscore Hong Kong's role as a global lighting hub, but the real significance lies in the technologies on display. The Hall of Connected Lighting will feature about 70 leading brands, including Dimon, Viliya, Inventronics, TUYA, Viso Systems, Casambi, and Signify, alongside major industry alliances such as the Connectivity Standards Alliance, DALI Alliance, SILA-EMN Alliance, and Zhaga Consortium. The debut of KNX, the global standard for smart building and home automation, signals growing convergence between lighting and broader building management systems, a development that could accelerate adoption of interoperable smart lighting in commercial and residential settings.
Health and well-being are also central. Signify will collaborate with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team to offer a racing simulator experience, demonstrating how lighting can create immersive environments. More importantly, Philips Sky professional lighting solutions, featuring VitaUp and BioUp technologies, will be showcased. VitaUp uses low-dose UVB light to mimic natural sunlight and support vitamin D production, while BioUp adjusts lighting to the body's circadian rhythm. These innovations point to a future where lighting actively contributes to human health, not just visibility.
The new LED Display Solution Zone reflects the expanding scope of the lighting industry. It will feature LED video walls, commercial displays, transparent and flexible LED panels, and immersive audio-visual systems for retail, corporate, exhibitions, and virtual production. First-time exhibitor Ledman Hong Kong will present the QS Series IceScreen LED Display, deployed at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, and the LEDHUB Smart Conference Solution, already adopted by institutions such as The University of Hong Kong and the University of Warwick. This convergence of lighting and display technology suggests that lighting companies are positioning themselves at the center of the digital experience economy.
The Outdoor and Tech Light Expo will focus on smart city development, with zones for Smart Pole and Solution, Landscape and Architectural Lighting, and Outdoor, Industrial and Technical Lighting. New photovoltaic and energy storage solutions, such as Lansine Intelligent's LX-LC01 energy storage power station and foldable solar panel series, highlight the industry's push toward off-grid and emergency power applications. These developments are critical as cities seek to enhance energy efficiency and resilience.
A rich programme of seminars and forums will run alongside the fairs, including the Innovative Lighting Design Forum, the IES Illumination Awards showcase, and a new event on circularity in lighting design co-organised with Women in Lighting. The Connected Lighting Forum, held with the Shanghai Pudong Intelligent Lighting Association, will explore human-centric lighting for emotional well-being. These discussions matter because they set the agenda for how lighting will integrate with health, sustainability, and urban infrastructure in the coming years.
For buyers, the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model and Click2Match platform will facilitate business matching from 19 October to 6 November. As the lighting industry moves toward smarter, healthier, and more sustainable solutions, these fairs serve as a critical barometer of where the market is heading and which technologies will shape the next generation of urban and indoor environments.
