Huawei has introduced a series of innovation breakthroughs in wireless technology, aiming to pioneer new communications networks that can handle the demands of the intelligent era. Announced at Huawei Decoding China 2026 by Fang Xiang, Corporate Vice President and President of Wireless Network Solution, the breakthroughs focus on root technologies for ubiquitous experience, simplified and green networks, and superior spectral efficiency. These developments matter because they address fundamental challenges facing the mobile industry as intelligent devices and services proliferate, driving the need for networks that can support 100 times more connections, stronger uplink capabilities, and ultra-low latency with high reliability.
The first breakthrough, RetinaMIMO, tackles the challenge of balancing ultra-high bandwidth with ubiquitous coverage. It features the industry's first Retina scanning system that reconstructs RF link topologies to eliminate coverage collapse in the vertical direction, and a reconstructed antenna array architecture to overcome diminishing marginal gains as array elements increase. Based on this, Huawei launched the world's first commercial U6 GHz device, VitaAAU, which widens coverage by about 30% compared to similar products with 1024 antenna elements, enabling U6 GHz to match C-band coverage. This allows operators to deploy U6 GHz on existing C-band sites, minimizing total cost of ownership. VitaAAU has already seen commercial adoption in the UAE and other markets, with peak downlink speeds exceeding 10 Gbps.
For simplified and green networks, Huawei introduced an EP power amplifier architecture that uses new materials and technologies to maximize energy conversion efficiency, addressing energy efficiency decline on higher frequency bands. The industry's first multimode dielectric filters enable small dimensions and low power consumption on multi-channel high-frequency networks. These innovations have reduced the VitaAAU antenna to 1.5 meters in diameter while supporting "0 Bit 0 Watt 0 Loss" energy saving, and have led to the GigaGreen Plus series, which achieves significant reductions in dimensions, weight, and power consumption.
To enhance spectral efficiency, Huawei's OSCAR solution introduces the time scaling of the Tau law to base stations for optimal dynamic resource scheduling across all domains. Combined with low-latency bus and high-speed interconnect technology, the new UBBPi series improves average user experience by 1.3 times while reducing power consumption by approximately 40%. Additionally, Huawei's RANSpirit, an industry-first single-domain network autonomy solution based on the telecom foundation model and digital twins, is already serving more than 1.2 million cells across 25 networks and assisting over 2,000 engineers.
Huawei is also driving open ecosystems for autonomous networks. It promotes the A2A-T standard, contributes to open-source communities, and donates agent components to the Linux Foundation, while pooling ecosystem strengths through the GSMA industry platform to accelerate business implementation. As reported by Media OutReach Newswire, these efforts underscore Huawei's commitment to dual-drive innovation and open collaboration. The implications are significant: by tackling coverage, energy, and capacity challenges, these breakthroughs lay a foundation for new communications networks that can deliver ubiquitous premium experience, simplified and green operations, and superior spectral efficiency, ultimately enabling the next wave of intelligent services and applications.
