The Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth (JASDFW) successfully held its 11th Annual Sun & Star Golf Classic at Bear Creek Golf Club, bringing together business leaders, community members, and friends of Japan and Texas for a day of golf and fundraising. The event supported JASDFW's cultural and educational programs, which aim to deepen understanding and partnership between Japan and North Texas.
Winning teams included Orix Corporation USA (1st place), SMBC (2nd place), with contest winners Dan Sinawat (Mega Putt), Barron Bryant (Longest Drive), and Joe Bunch (Closest to the Pin). Major sponsors included Toyota North America as Title Sponsor, along with JASDFW partners such as Zeal IT Consultants, City of Irving, Plano EDC, ORIX Corporation USA, SMBC Group, Fortinet, Panasonic, Technologent, and others.
Lawrence P. Howorth, Chair of the Board of Directors, emphasized the event's importance in building bridges and celebrating the Japan-Texas relationship. The funds raised will support programs like Japan America Friendship Night at the Texas Rangers, the annual Mochitsuki New Year's Celebration, and the Japan-America Grassroots Summit. Looking ahead, JASDFW will host the 2026 Sun & Star Legacy Award Dinner with Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
This annual event underscores the enduring collaboration between Japan and Texas, fostering cultural exchange and economic ties that benefit both regions.
