Speights Law has named Kayla Wilson, a first-year nursing student at Georgia College & State University, as the recipient of the 2025 Speights Law Invest in Your Future Scholarship, a $2,500 award aimed at promoting financial literacy among students. The scholarship, announced October 14, 2025, recognizes Wilson's academic dedication and thoughtful approach to managing personal finances while pursuing a career in pediatric nursing.
The scholarship is designed to encourage students to develop real-world money skills, including budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management. Wilson stated that the award will help her manage the costs of her nursing education while guiding her to make prudent financial decisions. She plans to strengthen her budgeting skills, prepare for student loan repayment, and begin building credit, all while learning about long-term saving and investing through finance courses.
Wilson expects to graduate in 2029 with a nursing degree and hopes to specialize in pediatric care, with interests in working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or becoming a nurse anesthetist. Beyond academics, she has demonstrated leadership and service through four years of high school sports medicine, membership in Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and involvement with campus outreach and Young Life, organizations that provide service opportunities for young people.
