KIT WAN STUDIOS, a multidisciplinary design and visual art studio led by Hong Kong-born creative director and visual artist Kit Wan, will headline CENTRESTAGE ELITES on 2 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The solo fashion show marks a homecoming for the studio, which has gained international recognition for its fusion of sci-fi inspirations with mechanical aesthetics, blurring the boundaries between collectable and wearable fashion.
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), CENTRESTAGE is a key event of the third edition of 'Hong Kong Fashion Fest'. The fair, held from 2 to 5 September, reinforces Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s fashion hub. This year’s CENTRESTAGE ELITES opening show will spotlight KIT WAN STUDIOS’ unique 'abstract reality' approach, which spans costume design, multimedia installations, and permanent museum exhibits. The studio’s work, merging manga and mythology with bespoke metalwork, has been showcased at the Grammy Awards and Eurovision, allowing Hong Kong design to shine on top-tier global stages.
Kit Wan, who first majored in knitwear design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, later extended his footprint to Amsterdam, London, and Oslo, where he completed his MA in fashion design. He is the first fashion designer to receive the 'Young Artist Award' from the Norwegian government, and his creations are part of the permanent collection of the National Museum of Norway. In 2025, Fashion Asia Hong Kong selected the studio as the sole Hong Kong representative among its '2025 10 Asian Designers to Watch'.
The studio’s collaborative roster includes local superstars such as Aaron Kwok, Hins Cheung, and Miriam Yeung, as well as international figures like Alan Cumming and Teddy Swims. 'It feels like THE moment for my work to come from my clearest voice, from my clearest mind,' Wan said. 'This collection is from my heart, my voice – so completely – and I am excited to share that with my hometown of Hong Kong.'
During CENTRESTAGE, Wan will lead a sharing session offering insights from his creative journey. The fair will also feature thematic zones, fashion parades, and industry seminars on sustainable fashion and artificial intelligence.
