Born in 1916 in Lake View, South Carolina, Whitley has lived a life rooted in family and community, values she attributes to her longevity.
Whitley, who has been a resident at La Posada for 22 years, was surrounded by her sons, daughter, friends, and fellow residents for the celebration. The Palm Beach Gardens Fire Department paid a special visit, presenting her with 109 roses in recognition of her longevity.
