LaFleur Minerals Inc. (CSE: LFLR) (OTCQB: LFLRF) (FSE: 3WK0) has announced the appointment of Andrew Elinesky as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. This leadership change comes as the company continues to advance due diligence with Trafigura Canada Limited regarding proposed prepayment and gold doré offtake arrangements. Elinesky, who brings over two decades of senior executive and financial leadership experience, most recently served as president and CEO of Sabre Gold Mines Corp., which was acquired in February 2025. In his new role, he will oversee corporate strategy, capital markets, financing, and investor relations. Former CEO Paul Ténière will continue as president and a director, focusing on the company's technical and operational activities.
The announcement follows a significant milestone in the company's partnership discussions with Trafigura. Representatives from Trafigura and LaFleur management completed a two-day site visit to the Beacon Gold Mill and Swanson Gold Project on August 10-11. During the visit, they inspected the mill and process circuits, reviewed recommissioning progress, and examined the ongoing diamond drilling program at the Swanson Deposit. This due diligence is a critical step toward finalizing the proposed prepayment and gold doré offtake arrangements, which could provide LaFleur with substantial financial backing. However, the company noted that there is no assurance that definitive agreements will be reached or that they will be on the terms currently contemplated.
Andrew Elinesky's appointment brings a wealth of experience in corporate development and finance to LaFleur. His track record includes leading Sabre Gold Mines through a successful acquisition, demonstrating his ability to navigate complex transactions and create shareholder value. The company expects that his expertise will be instrumental in advancing its strategic objectives, including securing the Trafigura deal and advancing its gold projects.
LaFleur Minerals is focused on the development of district-scale gold projects in the Abitibi Gold Belt near Val-d'Or, Québec. The company's flagship Swanson Gold Project includes 481 claims and one mining lease, covering 200.7 square kilometers. The project hosts several gold and critical metals prospects previously held by Monarch Mining, Abcourt Mines, and Globex Mining. LaFleur has consolidated a large land package along a major structural break that hosts the Swanson, Bartec, and Jolin gold deposits. The Beacon Gold Mill, capable of processing over 750 tonnes per day, is central to the company's plans. It is being considered for processing mineralized material from Swanson and for custom milling operations for other nearby projects.
Recently, LaFleur released a positive Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for the Swanson Gold Project and the planned restart of the Beacon Gold Mill. The PEA is preliminary and includes inferred mineral resources that are considered too speculative geologically to have economic considerations applied to them. There is no certainty that the results will be realized, and mineral resources that are not mineral reserves do not have demonstrated economic viability.
The company's progress with Trafigura is a positive signal for investors, as it could lead to significant prepayment financing and a guaranteed market for gold production. The site visit by Trafigura indicates serious interest and thorough evaluation, which may bolster confidence in the project's potential. As LaFleur moves forward under new leadership, the company is positioning itself to capitalize on its assets and strategic partnerships.
