Littleton Ranch Transforms 40-Acre Property into Rescue Resource Ranch, Opens Boarding to Fund Mission

Jennifer Jopling, owner of Littleton Ranch in Bellingham, Washington, has announced the transformation of her 40-acre property into a nonprofit rescue operation called Rescue Resource Ranch. The move comes as shelters nationwide face overwhelming capacity and a lack of resources for dogs in crisis.

Jopling, a certified dog trainer with two decades of experience, has concluded her breeding program to focus entirely on rescue. The ranch will offer boarding services to generate revenue, with proceeds directly supporting the rescue mission. According to Jopling, the decision was driven by the growing need she observed in the rescue community. "I couldn't keep ignoring what was right in front of me," she said. "Fosters trying to do the work of ten people, rescues desperate for a place to send one more dog. I had the land, the knowledge, and the space to help."

Littleton Ranch Boarding provides climate-controlled suites, individual outdoor exercise yards, a three-acre off-leash park, and a heated indoor play area. The facility is designed to offer a structured, calm environment for dogs. "We built this place for dogs to thrive," Jopling said. "Every space here was created from twenty years of learning what makes dogs feel safe, happy, and at home." Boarding reservations are available at littletonranch.com.

Rescue Resource Ranch aims to create a sustainable rescue network. Key programs include a Rescue Partner Relief Program to provide emergency overflow housing, a Foster Support Network offering respite care, medical recovery and isolation facilities, and behavioral rehabilitation and training. Jopling emphasized that the existing infrastructure allows the project to scale quickly. "With the infrastructure already in place, the project can scale quickly once funded," she said. "This isn't starting from scratch. This is taking twenty years of investment, expertise, and love and redirecting it toward the dogs who need it most."

The ranch is seeking support through boarding bookings, donations, and sharing its mission. Jopling noted that every boarding reservation helps fund the rescue. "Your dog receives expert care, and at the same time you are part of something that reaches far beyond this property," she said. "Every visit helps us move closer to a rescue model that gives dogs a second chance."

The announcement marks a significant shift for Jopling, who described closing the breeding chapter as deeply personal. "These dogs have been my life's work. Every puppy that left carried a piece of my heart," she said. "This next chapter honors that legacy by opening our gates wider to care for dogs who need a safe place and support the rescues and fosters doing the hard work."
