MAX Power Mining and Douglas Capital Partner to Explore Natural Hydrogen-Powered AI Data Centers in Saskatchewan

MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Douglas Capital Inc. to evaluate the use of natural hydrogen from its Lawson discovery in Saskatchewan to power Canadian-built artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and industrial electricity generation. The collaboration could also involve a network of data centers across Saskatchewan and access to broader electricity markets through Douglas Capital’s proposed CANVergence Energy Way, an Alberta-to-Ontario energy corridor that includes a 2,000-megawatt high-voltage transmission system.

The partnership matters because it links two emerging trends: the rise of energy-intensive AI infrastructure and the pursuit of low-carbon hydrogen as a power source. Data centers consume vast amounts of electricity, and using natural hydrogen could offer a cleaner alternative to traditional grids. For MAX Power, the MOU supports its strategy to advance the Lawson discovery—Canada’s first subsurface natural hydrogen system confirmed through deep drilling—toward commercial production. Douglas Capital, led by John Douglas, founder of Transmission Developers Inc., which developed the C$8 billion Champlain Hudson Power Express, would lead project development, financing, and customer engagement, while MAX Power would supply hydrogen and geological data.

The companies plan to establish a joint feasibility work plan, budget, and timetable within 30 days, covering hydrogen supply requirements, generation infrastructure, data center capacity, and potential commercial arrangements. The MOU is largely nonbinding, and any projects remain subject to technical and commercial feasibility, financing, regulatory approvals, and definitive agreements. Nevertheless, the announcement signals a potential pathway for integrating natural hydrogen into Canada’s energy and digital infrastructure.
