Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN) announced that the Psych Hub Mental Health Ally Certification, sponsored by USAA, will officially become part of the Leadership Institute for Military Spouses (LIMS) program catalog. This move comes after MSAN experienced unprecedented growth in 2025 with the launch of LIMS, and the certification is one of the most sought-after opportunities offered by the nonprofit.
The self-paced certification is available on-demand through LIMS, aligning with MSAN's mission to empower military spouses. The program aims to address mental health resource shortages by providing evidence-based professional training from Psych Hub, which hosts a library of over 1,000 digital assets, including videos, shareable content, and podcasts.
Survey results from MSAN's 2025 cohort indicate significant impact: 83% of participants reported that challenges as a military spouse have affected their mental health or overall wellness; 97% who completed the coursework said they now have tools to assist themselves or someone else during a mental health crisis; and 92% said the training taught them something new about mental health and wellness.
Eligible applicants include spouses of current serving U.S. military members from any branch, including Reserves and Guard, as well as post-9/11 Gold Star Spouses, Surviving Spouses, Caregivers, or spouses of Veterans or Retirees. More details about eligibility and lessons learned can be found at www.leadershipinstituteformilitaryspouses.org/mental-health-allyship.
Verenice Castillo, MSAN Founder & CEO, stated, "Military spouses are often the first line of support for their families and communities, yet access to timely mental health resources remains a critical challenge. These certifications equip military spouses to serve as trained mental health allies and first emotional responders—bridging the gap between the moment support is needed and the time professional care becomes available. It is a big step for LIMS to now host the training and provide military spouses a bigger journey full of opportunities. We are grateful for USAA's partnership and shared commitment to creating lasting impact for those who serve alongside our nation's military."
