Nevada Organic Phosphate Inc. (CSE: NOP; OTCQB: NOPFF) has reported that drill hole MM26-10 intersected the Meade Peak Member at its Murdock Mountain project, extending the confirmed strike length of the target phosphate horizon to more than 3 kilometers following a 1.5-kilometer step-out. Preliminary core logging identified oolitic textures consistent with the Upper Phosphate Zone, supporting the company’s geological model. Laboratory assay results are expected following validation.
The successful step-out strengthens confidence in the continuity and scale potential of the phosphate system, the company said, while exploration continues across additional project areas. Management also noted that it is transitioning to a new drilling contractor after experiencing equipment, staffing, and logistics delays, and expects drilling productivity to improve as operations advance.
The Murdock Mountain project is part of a larger property that includes a 6.6-kilometer-long organic sedimentary raw rock phosphate bed in northeast Nevada. Additional applications extend the potential strike of rock phosphate to over 30 kilometers. This is believed to be the only known large-scale organic sedimentary phosphate project in North America. It is situated close to the main highway to Montello/Elko, Nevada, and near the rail head to California.
The extension of the strike length is a key development for the company, as it suggests the mineralization may be more extensive than previously known. The presence of oolitic textures in the core is also a positive sign, as these textures are characteristic of the Upper Phosphate Zone, which is the primary target for phosphate mineralization in the region. The company’s geological model predicts that the phosphate horizon continues along strike, and this drilling result supports that interpretation.
Phosphate is an essential nutrient for agriculture, and the United States relies on imports for a significant portion of its phosphate supply. Domestic sources like the Murdock Mountain project could help reduce that dependence. The project’s proximity to existing transportation infrastructure, including a highway and rail, enhances its potential economic viability.
Nevada Organic Phosphate is a junior exploration company focused on advancing this project. The company’s recent drilling program is designed to delineate the extent and grade of the phosphate resource. The results from MM26-10 will be used to plan future drill holes and resource estimation. The transition to a new drilling contractor is expected to improve the efficiency of the program, allowing for more rapid advancement.
Investors and stakeholders will be watching for assay results from MM26-10 and subsequent drill holes to better understand the project’s potential. The company’s ability to expand the strike length to over 3 kilometers is a significant milestone, but the ultimate measure of success will be the grade and thickness of the phosphate zones encountered. The company has not yet provided a timeline for the release of assay results, but they are expected in the coming weeks.
