OMEGA Speedmaster 38 mm Gets Moonwatch-Inspired Update with Seven New References

Swiss Watch Gallery & Fine Jewelry is highlighting the updated OMEGA Speedmaster 38 mm collection, which now includes seven newly revealed references. The refresh matters because it tightens the visual and technical link between OMEGA’s compact Speedmaster and the legendary Moonwatch, while preserving the smaller size, color variety, and simplicity that have defined the 38 mm range. For collectors and enthusiasts, the changes signal a more cohesive family design and a broader set of choices across materials, dials, and movements.

The design updates sharpen the collection’s sporty character. Previous oval subdials have been replaced with classic rounded subdials, and a streamlined dial layout reduces wording for a cleaner look. Bezels return to a bolder, thicker profile that incorporates the Dot-Over-Ninety element associated with Moonwatch heritage. Each new model is presented on a five-link Moonwatch-style bracelet with either polished or brushed central links, tailored to the specific reference. These details are not cosmetic alone; they align the 38 mm line more closely with the design codes that have made the Speedmaster one of the most recognizable chronographs in watchmaking.

At the heart of the new models are two self-winding Co-Axial movements. The Calibre 3330 powers six references equipped with date functions, while the exclusive Calibre 3332 drives the seventh reference, a Black Dial model with a clean, no-date design. Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA, said the Speedmaster 38 mm has always taken its cues from the Moonwatch while keeping size, color, and simplicity in mind. He added that the latest update takes the Moonwatch inspiration even further, enriching the Speedmaster DNA while retaining the refined and unique nature of the 38 mm range.

The collection offers a diverse array of materials and finishes. Among the steel-on-steel offerings, the Black Dial model aligns most directly with the signature Moonwatch aesthetic, featuring a black aluminum bezel, a black varnished dial with a matt finish, hands and indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova, and a bracelet with alternating brushed and polished links. The White Dial reference features a blue ceramic bezel with a white enamel tachymeter scale and hands and indexes with a blue CVD coating. A Silvery Dial model rounds out the steel selection with a warm grey aluminum bezel and an opaline silvery PVD dial paired with Sedna™ Gold PVD accents.

For bicolor designs, the Silvery Opaline Dial reference combines stainless steel with a polished 18K Moonshine™ Gold bezel, green aluminum ring, and yellow gold tachymeter scale. The Ivory Dial model builds on the signature “cappuccino” style, pairing an ivory main dial with contrasting brown PVD subdials and an 18K Sedna™ Gold bezel. Two diamond-set bezel references add extra sparkle, offering 52 diamonds totaling 1.53 carats paired with either an ice blue PVD dial or a white mother-of-pearl dial.

Watch enthusiasts and collectors can explore the updated collection at Swiss Watch Gallery & Fine Jewelry, available in showrooms at The Shops at Mission Viejo and Brea Mall. The release underscores OMEGA’s strategy of using its Moonwatch heritage to strengthen the appeal of smaller, more accessible Speedmaster models, while giving buyers a wider range of finishes and movements within a single collection.
