PFISTERER is making a significant investment in its Rochester, New York, facility to meet the rapidly growing demand for its SICON shearbolt connector components in the North American market. The company is allocating approximately $2.7 million to add three additional CNC lathes, tooling, and related production equipment, which will increase production capacity for these components by two and a half times. This expansion underscores the strategic importance of the U.S. market, where more than half of PFISTERER's SICON connectors are now sold, and positions Rochester as a central hub in the company's global production network.
The investment is driven by the explosive growth of data centers across the United States and globally. These facilities require high-performance, exceptionally reliable connections to the power grid to ensure a secure and scalable power supply for critical digital infrastructure. PFISTERER's SICON connectors are uniquely suited for this task, as they are the only connectors that meet the Class 2 requirements of the North American standard ANSI C119.4, in addition to being type-tested in accordance with IEC 61238-1, Class A. This makes them essential for the expansion of power infrastructure, particularly for data center power supply. By expanding production capacity in Rochester, PFISTERER is directly addressing this surging demand and reinforcing its position in a high-growth market.
The expansion also aligns with PFISTERER's "Local-for-Local" approach, under which products for the U.S. market will increasingly be manufactured directly in the U.S. rather than imported from Germany. This strategy shortens delivery times, improves responsiveness to customer needs, and reduces transportation-related emissions. "With the expansion of our production in Rochester, we are taking an important step in our growth strategy for the U.S. market," says Johannes Linden, member and spokesperson of the Executive Board of PFISTERER Holding SE. "We manufacture where our products are needed, thereby strengthening our local presence and enabling us to supply our customers more quickly and flexibly. The investment not only significantly increases our production capacity but also creates additional qualified jobs at the site."
The implications of this announcement extend beyond PFISTERER's own operations. As data centers continue to proliferate, the reliability of power connections becomes ever more critical. SICON connectors help ensure that the power supply for critical digital infrastructure is designed to be secure and scalable. By localizing production, PFISTERER is not only enhancing its delivery capacity, flexibility, and resilience but also contributing to the broader effort to modernize and expand the U.S. power grid. This investment is a clear signal that PFISTERER is committed to supporting the growth of the North American market and to playing a key role in the energy infrastructure that underpins the digital economy.
