REPLOID Group AG ("REPLOID") has announced the consolidation of its fertilizer business into a newly formed company, REPLOID REGREEN GmbH ("REGREEN"), based in Wels, Austria. The subsidiary will produce and market organic fertilizers derived from insect frass, a nutrient-rich by-product generated when Black Soldier Fly larvae process organic residues from the food industry. Andreas Steinbüchler, a veteran with over 25 years in the fertilizer industry, has been appointed Managing Director to lead the venture.
The spin-off is a strategic move to establish a dedicated structure for REPLOID's planned entry into the fertilizer market. REGREEN's products will be sourced from REPLOID's own ReFarmUnits, which utilize black soldier fly larvae to upcycle regional organic waste. The market entry is scheduled for fall 2026, beginning with fertilizer sticks for potted plants, followed by a lawn fertilizer and an agricultural fertilizer for commercial farming later that year.
Europe's fertilizer market is under significant pressure due to heavy reliance on imported mineral fertilizers, tightening regulations, and widespread soil degradation. Organic fertilizers offer a complementary solution by improving nutrient efficiency, building soil organic matter, and enhancing resilience to drought stress. REGREEN aims to capitalize on the growing demand for locally produced, circular solutions in agriculture and horticulture. According to Steinbüchler, "Europe imports fertilizer while its soils are being depleted. Neither is a viable option in the long run. With REGREEN, we are deliberately building what has been missing: a regionally produced organic fertilizer that makes soils more fertile over the long term."
The new structure is designed to provide speed and agility in developing the market with innovative products. Philip Pauer, CEO and Founder of REPLOID Group AG, emphasized the strategic importance of the fertilizer segment, stating, "With REGREEN, we are giving our fertilizer business its own, effective structure and, in Andreas Steinbüchler, a leader with many years of industry experience. This underscores that the fertilizer segment is a strategic growth pillar for us, with enormous scaling potential."
Andreas Steinbüchler brings extensive experience from his tenure as Chief Commercial Officer of LAT Nitrogen GmbH, Europe's second-largest fertilizer producer, from 2018 to 2023, and his role as President of the Fertilizers Europe association from 2021 to 2023. His leadership is expected to drive REGREEN's market penetration and product development.
REPLOID Group AG, founded in 2020, is listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange's direct market plus segment under ticker HRX5. The company employs over 190 people and focuses on decentralized upcycling of organic residues through its ReFarmUnit technology. For more information about REGREEN, visit www.regreen.co.
