Reservoir, an agricultural innovation center and venture capital fund, announced the acquisition of Contain, Inc., an agriculture finance and data platform, and the appointment of Nicola Kerslake as general partner. The move marks Reservoir's first acquisition and is designed to accelerate value creation for startups focused on rugged Physical AI in agriculture.
Kerslake, who previously led underwriting and financing at Contain, will chair Reservoir VC's investment committee and oversee due diligence and underwriting functions. Her expertise is expected to strengthen Reservoir's ability to evaluate and support early-stage companies. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
By integrating Contain's marketplace, underwriting, and market intelligence capabilities, Reservoir aims to help startups transition from pilot programs to commercial scale more efficiently. The acquisition adds a new layer to Reservoir's value creation model, which combines on-farm robotics innovation centers, grower input, and early-stage capital.
Reservoir Farms, described as the world's first on-farm robotics innovation centers, currently operate in the Salinas Valley and are expanding to other regions across California and the American West. The venture fund backs startups solving real problems in high-value crops and the rugged physical AI stack.
