Road to Responsibility (RTR), a nonprofit supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, announced the renewal of its partnership with PLAN of MA and RI for a third consecutive year. The partnership, initially established in October 2023, has focused on educating individuals, families, staff, and community members about the benefits of special needs trusts. In support of this continued collaboration, PLAN of MA and RI has granted $50,000 to RTR, doubling its contribution from 2024.
Christopher T. White, Ed.D., president and CEO of Road to Responsibility, expressed gratitude for the renewed partnership. “We’re delighted to once again partner with PLAN of MA and RI, and deeply grateful for this generous grant in support of our programs,” he said. “This collaboration has provided many individuals and families served by RTR with a deeper understanding of available government assistance programs and the merits of special needs trusts.”
Road to Responsibility, established in 1988, serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the South Shore and South Coast of Massachusetts. The organization operates 49 residences, cooperative and supportive living apartments, and nine day-service locations. RTR’s integrated clinical behavioral approach has proven successful in supporting individuals with diverse needs, including those with significant challenges. PLAN of MA and RI, a nonprofit with origins dating back to the 1960s, specializes in operating Special Needs Pooled Trusts. The organization provides professional trustee services, helping people with disabilities preserve assets, protect access to public benefits, and improve quality of life. Licensed social workers assess beneficiaries’ living situations and needs, offering recommendations and referrals to enhance well-being. Additional details can be found at www.planofma-ri.org.
The renewal of this partnership underscores the ongoing commitment of both organizations to empower individuals with disabilities through financial education and support. By doubling its contribution, PLAN of MA and RI enables RTR to expand outreach and resources for families navigating government assistance and trust planning.
