Rubean AG, the Munich-based FinTech company, announced at its annual shareholders' meeting that it expects continued significant revenue growth, with consolidated revenue projected to reach between 5.0 million and 6.0 million euros in 2026, up from 3.71 million euros in the previous year. Co-CEO Jochen Pielage reported that revenue in the first half of the year grew by approximately 50 percent to 2.4 million euros, driven by strong demand for the company's SoftPOS software.
Pielage emphasized that recurring revenue—fees for using Rubean's software point-of-sale (SoftPOS) solution—is growing strongly and is expected to account for half of the 2026 annual revenue, a significant increase from the previous year. This shift toward recurring revenue is particularly profitable for the company and underpins its path to profitability.
Rubean's technology replaces traditional card readers with a software app that can be replicated on smartphones without the need for additional hardware. This enables retailers, restaurants, delivery services, and other businesses to accept cashless and mobile payments. The company has established itself as a market leader in Germany and Spain and has expanded into other European countries, including Switzerland, France, and the United Kingdom, with the support of major banks and payment service providers.
Internationally, Rubean has entered markets in North and South America. Pielage noted that the company now works with 19 major banks, including the German Sparkassen, BBVA in Spain, and Commerzbank, as well as internationally active payment service providers. “The groundwork has been laid for expanding a very successful sales operation, especially with the help of my new colleague on the Executive Board, Stephan Kuck,” said Pielage.
Looking ahead, Rubean expects the positive trend to continue into 2027. Pielage stated, “Thanks to the continued significant growth in recurring revenue, we will reach monthly breakeven in 2027 and close the entire year with a positive net income for the first time.” This milestone would mark a turning point for the company, which has been investing heavily in growth.
The company's SoftPOS solution, PhonePOS, enables merchants to accept card payments directly on their smartphones without an additional device. It is used by payment service providers, major banks, retailers, and large retail chains across Europe and is the only softPOS solution supporting the girocard (EC card) in Germany. Rubean is listed on m:access and other over-the-counter trading venues as well as XETRA.
