Sabbeth Law Offers Free Rides Home on St. Patrick's Day to Prevent Drunk Driving

Sabbeth Law, a personal injury law firm based in Burlington, Vermont, has announced the launch of its Sober Holiday Rides program for St. Patrick's Day 2026. The initiative aims to promote safer roads during one of the most dangerous holidays for impaired driving nationwide. On March 17, 2026, individuals celebrating the holiday in Vermont and New Hampshire can receive reimbursement of up to $50, including a 10% tip, for a one-way ride home via taxi or rideshare.

St. Patrick's Day is historically associated with a high number of drunk driving incidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, from 2017 to 2021, 288 people were killed in drunk-driving crashes during the St. Patrick's Day holiday period. Sabbeth Law, which represents individuals and families in serious injury cases, including car accidents and wrongful death, has seen the consequences of preventable crashes firsthand.

"We want people to celebrate responsibly and get home safely," said Michael J. Sabbeth, Esquire. "If covering the cost of a ride removes one barrier to making a safe decision, it's worth it." The program is part of the firm's broader commitment to injury prevention and community safety. Sober Holiday Rides is offered during select high-risk holidays throughout the year to help reduce impaired driving incidents across the region.

To participate, riders must be 21 or older, and the ride must occur entirely within Vermont or New Hampshire. Only one-way rides are eligible, and participants must submit their receipt and valid identification within seven days, by March 24. Full program details and submission instructions are available at https://sabbethlaw.com/about/community/sober-holiday-rides/.

The initiative underscores the importance of planning ahead. Community members are encouraged to save the program link before going out and share it with friends. "Getting home safely should never be an afterthought," Attorney Sabbeth added. By removing the financial barrier of a ride home, Sabbeth Law hopes to encourage more people to make safe choices and prevent tragedies on the roads.
