A public Bible exam on the Book of Revelation, hosted by the Thomas Tribe of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, took place at the Global Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, on an unspecified date. The event attracted 200 participants, including 100 Shincheonji Church members and 100 local pastors, who answered 100 questions over two hours.
According to a statement from the Shincheonji Uganda Church, the test was not about competition but, as Chairman Lee Man-hee proposed, designed to distinguish orthodoxy from heresy based on the words of Revelation. Chairman Lee has often emphasized that the Book of Revelation should be the standard of faith, referencing Revelation 22:18–19 to discern true doctrine from false.
One pastor who took the Bible exam expressed regret for not properly learning Revelation despite considering it a compass for faith. He committed to studying again to better understand prophecy and fulfillment. A Shincheonji Church member noted that many pastors found the questions difficult and could not answer according to scripture, contrasting with Shincheonji members who easily understood Revelation. The member expressed hope that this knowledge would spread and bring change throughout Uganda's Christian community.
The event led to seven churches signing memorandums of understanding to collaborate with the Shincheonji Uganda Church. The church also noted that a number of denominations have recently decided to officially affiliate themselves with Shincheonji Church.
A representative of the Shincheonji Uganda Church stated that knowing the reality of Revelation is the first step to leading believers in truth and expressed hope that more pastors will learn the Word and grow together. Since opening in 2015 with 27 members, the Shincheonji Uganda Church has grown exponentially to over 8,400 members.
