Skyharbour Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: SYH) (OTCQX: SYHBF) (Frankfurt: SC1P) has entered into a definitive option agreement with Purecore Metals (CSE: PURE), allowing Purecore to earn up to a 100% interest in the Yurchison uranium property in northern Saskatchewan. The agreement is a strategic move for Skyharbour as it continues to leverage its extensive Athabasca Basin portfolio through partnerships while focusing its own exploration efforts on its core Moore and Russell assets.
Under the terms of the agreement, Purecore can earn an initial 70% interest in the Yurchison property by providing Skyharbour with C$350,000 in cash, C$700,000 in shares, and incurring C$3.5 million in exploration expenditures over a three-year period. Subsequently, Purecore has the option to acquire the remaining 30% interest for an additional C$3 million in cash and C$3 million in shares. Skyharbour will retain a 2% net smelter return royalty on the property, ensuring ongoing value from any future production.
The Yurchison property comprises 22 claims covering approximately 35,029 hectares, located about 75 kilometers south of Cameco's Rabbit Lake operation, with Highway 905 crossing the property. Historical samples from the area have returned uranium values ranging from 0.09% to 0.30% U3O8 and molybdenum values from 2,500 to 6,400 ppm, indicating significant mineral potential. Modern airborne electromagnetic, magnetic, and radiometric surveys were completed in 2022 and 2023, providing a solid foundation for future exploration.
This agreement is part of Skyharbour's broader strategy to maximize shareholder value through partnerships and exploration advancements. Skyharbour holds an extensive portfolio of uranium projects in the Athabasca Basin, with interests in forty-four projects covering over 682,100 hectares. The company owns a 100% interest in the Moore Uranium Project, an advanced-stage exploration property with high-grade uranium mineralization at the Maverick Zone, highlighted by drill results of up to 6.0% U3O8 over 5.9 meters, including 20.8% U3O8 over 1.5 meters. Adjacent to Moore, Skyharbour is advancing multiple properties within the Russell Lake project area with joint venture partner Denison Mines.
Skyharbour has established joint ventures with industry leaders Denison Mines and Orano Canada Inc., and has multiple earn-in option partners, including Nexus Uranium Corp., North Shore Uranium, UraEx Resources, Future Fuels, Mustang Energy, and Terra Clean Energy. In aggregate, these partnerships could bring in over $79 million in partner-funded exploration expenditures and over $52 million in cash and share payments, assuming partners complete their earn-ins. This robust partnership model allows Skyharbour to de-risk exploration while retaining upside potential.
The Yurchison option agreement with Purecore is a testament to Skyharbour's ability to attract partners and monetize its assets. For Purecore, it provides an opportunity to advance a promising uranium project in a geopolitically favorable jurisdiction. The agreement also highlights the continued interest in uranium exploration, driven by improving market fundamentals and the growing demand for nuclear energy as a clean power source.
Investors should note that this agreement is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. Skyharbour remains committed to its goal of maximizing shareholder value through new mineral discoveries, long-term partnerships, and the advancement of exploration projects in the Athabasca Basin.
