Sportradar (NASDAQ: SRAD) has completed its acquisition of IMG ARENA, a move that significantly expands its global sports betting rights portfolio. The deal, announced earlier, adds approximately 38,000 official data events and 29,000 streaming events annually across 14 sports on six continents, bringing the total number of events covered by Sportradar to over 1 million each year. This acquisition strengthens Sportradar’s content in key betting areas such as tennis, soccer, and basketball, adding properties like Wimbledon, the U.S. Open, Major League Soccer, EuroLeague basketball, and the PGA Tour.
Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl called the closure a significant milestone, stating, “With this, we are uniquely positioned to deliver even more immersive, data-rich experiences to our clients, partners and fans around the world while accelerating innovation at scale across the global sports ecosystem.” The deal structure involves no financial consideration from Sportradar; instead, the seller made cash prepayments of about $122 million to sports rights holders and approximately $103 million to Sportradar. The acquisition is expected to be accretive to adjusted EBITDA margins and free cash flow conversion, and it will fuel product development and content distribution.
This acquisition is a key driver for Sportradar’s target of double-digit revenue growth over the next three years. Before the deal, the company aimed for revenue of at least €1.7 billion (roughly $2 billion) by 2027, representing a 15% compound annual growth rate. With the addition of IMG ARENA, Sportradar expects to outpace the global sports betting market, which is projected to reach $182.12 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 10.3%. The company also targets margin expansion to 27% by 2027, a 700-basis-point improvement.
Sportradar attributes its growth prospects to “industry-leading scale, unmatched competitive advantages and major sports rights secured for the long term.” Beyond the IMG ARENA acquisition, the company plans to pursue further acquisitions and explore adjacent areas such as the online casino market, leveraging its 360-degree marketing services capabilities. This opens up an estimated $2 billion serviceable addressable market. With a larger presence across all major sports and sports betting, Sportradar aims to transform fan engagement and betting experiences. For more information, visit the company’s website.
