SS Innovations Shows Telesurgery Potential With 4,500-Mile Procedure From Australia to India

SS Innovations International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSII) demonstrated the long-distance telesurgery capabilities of its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system by performing a procedure spanning more than 4,500 miles from Perth, Australia, to Indore, India. The landmark telesurgery, a robotic gastrojejunostomy, was conducted on May 2, 2026, by Dr. Mohit Bhandari, President of IRCAD India, during the Royal Australian College of Surgeons Annual Scientific Congress. Dr. Bhandari used the SSi MantrAsana tele-surgeon console, a compact chair-based version of the standard surgeon command center, which enables portability and telesurgery from diverse locations such as physician offices.

The SSi MantrAsana is engineered for real-time remote procedures with ultra-low latency connectivity, high-definition visualization, and precise instrument control. This event adds to the more than 170 telesurgeries, including complex cardiac procedures, already performed with the SSi Mantra system. Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, stated, “We thank the Royal Australian College of Surgeons for this opportunity to demonstrate the advanced telesurgery capabilities of our SSi Mantra surgical robotic system. I’d also like to congratulate Dr. Bhandari and the SS Innovations team for making possible another successful long-distance cross-border telesurgery.”

This achievement underscores the potential of telesurgery to transform healthcare delivery by enabling remote access to specialized surgical expertise, particularly in underserved regions. The SSi Mantra system, with its modular multi-arm design and advanced features like a 3D 4K monitor, is already clinically validated in India for over 100 different surgical procedures. The company plans to expand the global presence of its cost-effective solutions, aiming to make robotic surgery more accessible. More information about the company and its systems is available at ssinnovations.com and on LinkedIn.

The successful telesurgery highlights the growing feasibility of long-distance remote surgery, which could help bridge gaps in surgical care worldwide. As SS Innovations continues to pioneer this technology, the implications for global health equity are significant, potentially allowing top surgeons to operate on patients thousands of miles away without travel.
