Stabilus SE, a global leader in motion control solutions, is expanding its industrial automation business by integrating the technologies of its expert brands under the Stabilus4Automation umbrella. This strategic move aims to capture growth in the fast-growing robotics market, leveraging synergies from brands including ACE, Destaco, Fabreeka, and Hahn Gasfedern.
The global addressable market for end-of-arm tooling, gripping systems, and robotic tooling solutions is approximately EUR 3 billion, with double-digit growth expected as automation increases across industries. Stabilus targets EUR 500 million in revenue from new, high-margin innovation products over the long term, with the Automation segment expected to make a significant contribution.
According to CEO Dr. Michael Buchsner, industrial automation is a key growth area. “With Stabilus4Automation, we are leveraging synergies within the group to further develop our technology portfolio and offer integrated solutions for demanding automation applications, including robotics,” he said.
Stabilus plans to implement its automation solutions in its own production plants to optimize processes and gain practical insights for product development. The company already works with over 100 partners in robotics and has developed a 360-degree drive solution for robot joints in a pilot project.
Jurgen Roland, Head of the business unit Industrial Components, emphasized the integrated approach: “We view industrial automation as an integrated system of required movements – from gripper and vibration isolation to drive solution. For cobots and small-payload robots, we already offer powerful end-of-arm tools.”
An example of this integration is a handling solution combining Destaco’s automation expertise with ACE’s damping technology. The resulting end-of-arm tool incorporates ACE’s MC series miniature shock absorbers to enhance handling of varying package sizes and improve protection of equipment and goods.
Driven by skilled labor shortages, quality demands, and efficiency needs, industrial automation and robotics are gaining importance. Stabilus aims to capitalize on these trends with modular, scalable solutions that integrate into existing production lines. The company’s in-house production will also benefit from efficiency gains.
