Stevens-Leinweber Construction (SLC), a Phoenix-based general contractor with over 40 years of experience, has hired DJ Peterson as its new Business Development lead. Peterson will be responsible for supporting and expanding the company's network within the rapidly evolving metro Phoenix commercial real estate market. His duties include establishing and nurturing client relationships and identifying new opportunities to drive growth by leveraging SLC's expertise in ground-up and tenant construction.
President and CEO Jamie Godwin emphasized the company's adaptability in a changing market. "Phoenix has changed dramatically over the decades, and we've succeeded by growing in step – prioritizing our current relationships and responsibilities while seeking out new ways to serve our clients and a market that now includes advanced manufacturing, ultra-sophisticated logistics and highly creative office environments," Godwin said. He described Peterson as "a seasoned relationship manager, collaborator and continuous learner who is equally committed to honoring our past while embracing the future."
Peterson, a former baseball agent and player who spent nearly a decade in the minor leagues with the Mariners, Reds, White Sox and Rockies, transitioned into the construction industry several years ago. He holds a bachelor's degree in Humanities from the University of New Mexico and is a member of the Arizona Chapter of NAIOP, Greater Phoenix Economic Council and ULI. Peterson expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, "Strong relationships start with understanding and then evolve into strategies that drive meaningful results. I've known and respected the SLC leadership team for years and am excited to do just that for our company, applying our core values and expertise for the benefit of our clients and the communities where we build."
SLC, known for completing over 9,500 tenant improvement projects in the Phoenix metro area and having more than 17 million square feet of ground-up Class A office and industrial space in its pipeline, aims to continue its growth trajectory under Peterson's business development efforts. The company provides general contracting and design-build services across office, industrial, retail and mixed-use sectors. More information about SLC is available at stevensleinweber.com.
