The Arc Baltimore’s Fund the Mission campaign, “From the Foundation to the Future,” is nearing its goal of raising $75,000. The campaign honors the organization’s 75-year history and will support vital services for people with developmental disabilities. According to The Arc Baltimore, there is still time to contribute to the effort, which aims to fill gaps in public funding for essential programs.
Founded in 1950 by four sets of parents, The Arc Baltimore has grown from a grassroots movement into a leading advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization provides a range of services, including employment training and support, day and residential services, family support and education, treatment foster care, assistive technology, respite care, and public policy advocacy. Donations to the campaign help ensure that these programs remain available to those who need them.
“The grassroots movement that laid the foundation in 1950 has become a powerful force for change that continues to create a future filled with endless possibilities for people with disabilities,” said Kathleen McNally Durkin, The Arc Baltimore’s Chief Executive Officer. “As a result, today’s children are growing up in a world where inclusion is the expectation, not the exception. Still, our work is not finished. We must ensure every child, adult, and family continues to have the support and opportunities they need not just to survive, but to thrive.”
The campaign’s success is critical because public funding often does not cover the full cost of services. Donations bridge this gap, allowing The Arc to continue its mission of fostering inclusion and opportunity. To donate, visit the campaign page at From the Foundation to the Future. Other ways to give include joining the monthly giving group Mission Movers or exploring planned giving opportunities at www.thearcbaltimore.org/donate.
The Arc Baltimore’s work has a lasting impact on the community, helping individuals with disabilities pursue their dreams—whether that means college, a career, or a home of their own. As the campaign nears its goal, every contribution brings the organization closer to ensuring that these opportunities remain available for generations to come.
