Trailbreaker Resources Ltd. (TBK.V) announced on January 19, 2026, that it has received a property-wide exploration permit for its 8,000-hectare Coho property in central British Columbia. The 5-year Multi-Year Area-Based (MYAB) Mines Act permit, approved by the BC Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals, is valid until December 18, 2030, and authorizes diamond drilling from up to 50 drill pads, construction of up to 15 km of exploration access trails, 20 line-km of ground geophysical surveys, and a temporary work camp.
The Coho property is a drill-ready copper-gold (Cu-Au) porphyry target located 30 km west of Centerra Gold's Mount Milligan mine, a producing operation with reserves of 1.2 billion lbs copper and 2.8 million oz gold (see Centerra Gold). The property also lies 3.5 km east of Pacific Empire Minerals' Trident property, where recent drilling intersected 0.77% Cu, 0.51 g/t Au, and 3.4 g/t Ag over 183.0 m (see Pacific Empire news release). To the north, Pacific Ridge Resources' Chuchi property returned 382.0 m of 0.19% Cu, 0.12 g/t Au, and 0.47 g/t Ag in 2024 (see Pacific Ridge news release).
The primary target is the Coho zone, which has never been drilled despite limited historical drilling on the claims. It features a 650 x 550 m Cu-Au-Ag surface anomaly within diorite, associated with an ENE-trending fault zone and gabbro dykes. Historic grab samples returned up to 16.15 g/t Au, 16.35% Cu, and 67.3 g/t Ag. Recent geophysical surveys, including airborne ZTEM and ground IP, identified a 400 m x 250 m x 200 m deep porphyry intrusive complex with a chargeability high anomaly spanning over 1.4 km. The Coho zone is considered part of a cluster of alkalic porphyry deposits along the Hogem batholith margin.
The permit enables Trailbreaker to conduct the inaugural drill program in the 2026 exploration season. CEO Daithi Mac Gearailt stated, "We are thrilled to receive this permit in time for the 2026 exploration season, allowing us to conduct the inaugural drill program at the Coho zone. This is an exciting opportunity to explore an undrilled Cu-Au porphyry target in a prolific mineral district." The company is engaging with the Takla First Nation, in whose territory the property lies, to collaborate on the upcoming drill program.
The Coho property was acquired through an option agreement in May 2025, giving Trailbreaker the right to earn a 100% interest. With the permit now in hand, the company is positioned to test a high-potential target in a district known for major copper-gold deposits. The proximity to producing mines and recent discoveries underscores the significance of this undrilled zone.
