WILMINGTON, NC – Transatlantic relations have been seriously undermined by President Donald Trump's deceptive behavior at the World Economic Forum in Davos, according to Elizabeth Graham, author of the bestselling ebook, 'From Democracy To Democrazy.' Graham, who has a background in CIA undercover work and spent years studying Russia, argues that European leaders are not fully grasping the implications of Trump's statements and actions.
In a recent Substack post titled 'Deception At Davos,' Graham wrote that Trump's proposal regarding Greenland has strained relations to an unprecedented level. She noted that while Americans are familiar with Trump's misleading statements, Europeans have not been exposed to them as often. 'I was surprised by their attentiveness, and by the questions asked after Trump's speech,' Graham wrote. 'The statement 'I will not use force to take Greenland' reassured many but breaking that promise could shock them.'
Graham compared Trump's approach to Greenland to his actions in Venezuela, where he announced management of the country's gas and oil industry. She cited a New York Times report from January 8, 2026, that the primary mode of drug trafficking from Venezuela is by air, not by boats, contradicting Trump's justification for bombing boats in the Caribbean. 'Then the entire world stood by as Trump announced that he will manage the country of Venezuela and control their gas and oil industry – money in his pocket,' she wrote.
Greenland possesses untapped rare minerals used in magnet production, critical for manufacturing aircraft engines, electric cars, and advanced machinery. According to Wikipedia, China dominates the global rare earth magnet market. After Trump imposed 100% tariffs on certain Chinese goods, China tightened export controls on rare earth elements and magnets. Graham argued that Trump is striving to build alternative supply chains by owning Greenland, claiming it is necessary for U.S. security—a tactic identical to his grab of Venezuela.
She also highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Africa following Trump's closure of USAID, citing an NPR report from July 1, 2025, that the death toll could be as high as 14 million. 'Take one minute to realize this enormous atrocity – and that Trump is responsible,' she wrote.
Graham warned that Trump will not stop at Venezuela and Greenland but will pursue further territorial gains through misleading promises. She noted that according to PBS, Trump and his family received $1.4 billion from his presidency in 2025. 'He is a con man from New York who learned to cheat others and manipulate the U.S. judicial system,' she stated.
'Europe must stand firm and not permit Trump to gain ownership of Greenland. Otherwise, it's uncertain which country he might target next or will he start World War III – just like Hitler's landmass grab in the 1930's and 40's or Stalin's creation then called the USSR,' Graham concluded.
