Trilogy Metals Announces Coordinated Permitting Schedule for Arctic Project

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) announced that a coordinated federal and state permitting schedule for its flagship Arctic Project in Alaska has been published on the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council’s Permitting Dashboard. The schedule confirms the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as the lead federal agency for environmental review and outlines a targeted Record of Decision in September 2028 for the copper-zinc-lead-gold-silver project being advanced by Ambler Metals, Trilogy’s 50/50 joint venture with South32.

The published timeline integrates federal and Alaska state permitting under the state’s FAST-41 memorandum of understanding, providing a single, publicly tracked roadmap for project approvals. The company said the schedule targets an approximately 29-month review period from its April 2026 Clean Water Act Section 404 permit application to the Record of Decision, reflecting a more streamlined process than historical permitting timelines. Trilogy Metals Inc. is a metal exploration and development company holding a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, which has a 100 percent interest in the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects in northwestern Alaska. On December 19, 2019, South32, a globally diversified mining and metals company, exercised its option to form a 50/50 joint venture with Trilogy Metals. The UKMP is located within the Ambler Mining District, one of the richest and most-prospective known copper-dominant districts in the world.

The district hosts polymetallic VMS deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold and silver, and carbonate replacement deposits found to host high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization. Exploration efforts have focused on the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit, both within a land package spanning approximately 190,929 hectares. Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, providing a framework for exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities. Trilogy Metals’ vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while protecting and respecting subsistence livelihoods.

The published permitting schedule is a significant milestone for the project, as it provides clarity and a defined timeline for the regulatory process. This development is important for investors and stakeholders as it reduces uncertainty and demonstrates progress toward project advancement. The integration of federal and state permitting under FAST-41 is expected to improve efficiency and coordination, potentially setting a precedent for other mining projects in Alaska.
