Tropical Orthodontics has been named a 2026 Consumer Choice Award recipient for Business Excellence, extending an unbroken streak that began in 2017. The tenth consecutive honor places the Mississauga practice among a small group of Canadian businesses to earn annual recognition from one of the country's most respected consumer-driven award programs for a full decade. The milestone matters beyond the trophy case: it signals that patient trust, clinical outcomes, and service consistency have held steady through a period when orthodontic care has shifted rapidly toward digital workflows and alternative treatment systems.
The Consumer Choice Award is built on independent consumer research rather than self-nomination or paid entry, which gives the recognition added weight for families comparing providers. For a specialty practice, repeat selection over ten years suggests that satisfaction is not tied to a single clinician visit or a temporary marketing push but to operational discipline across scheduling, treatment planning, and follow-up care. That distinction is increasingly relevant as more general dental offices add aligner services, leaving patients to sort specialist credentials from general offerings.
Led by Dr. Joel Schacher, Tropical Orthodontics has become one of the most recognized orthodontic practices in Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area. Schacher's credentials include a University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry degree and orthodontic specialty training at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York. Over a career spanning more than 40 years, he has treated thousands of children, teens, and adults, and he has remained active in teaching and professional leadership. He founded and presides over the Ontario Damon Study Club, has instructed dental residents at Hamilton General Hospital, and has served as a guest lecturer for graduate orthodontic residents.
The practice's longevity also reflects a deliberate treatment philosophy. Tropical Orthodontics emphasizes non-extraction orthodontics and modern appliance systems intended to move teeth efficiently while reducing the need for invasive procedures. Its service range includes Invisalign and clear aligners, Pitts 21 braces, Damon braces, adult and teen orthodontics, bite correction, and smile enhancement. The mix matters because adult orthodontic demand has risen steadily, and patients increasingly seek options that fit professional and social schedules without compromising long-term oral health.
Geographically, the clinic draws patients from Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Milton, Etobicoke, and across the Greater Toronto Area, a catchment that reflects both population growth and competition. In that environment, a decade-long award streak functions as third-party validation that can influence where families book consultations. For the practice, the recognition arrives as it positions itself for the next phase of growth, with leadership stating that the focus remains on clinical excellence, innovation, and patient experience rather than resting on past honors.
The broader implication for the orthodontic market is that consumer-facing awards may carry more weight as treatment options multiply and patients face more choices than ever. A ten-year record offers a measurable track record at a time when online reviews can be fragmented or difficult to verify. For Tropical Orthodontics, the 2026 award closes one decade of recognition and opens another with the same standard the practice has publicly committed to maintaining.
