Trussell's Transformations Celebrates 20 Years of Making Albuquerque Houses Feel Like Home

When Danny Trussell started his remodeling company in September 2006 with a business partner and a truck, working out of his family's garage, he had a simple idea: a house isn't really finished until it feels like home. Twenty years and roughly 8,500 completed projects later, that idea still drives Trussell's Transformations, the family-owned remodeling company serving Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and the surrounding communities.

The milestone matters not just for longevity but for what it represents: thousands of kitchens, bathrooms, floors and rooflines across the metro area, each shaped by the same hands-on philosophy that started it all. "Trussell's has always been more than a business to us. It's been a huge part of our family's life for the past 20 years. Our kids basically grew up in this business. A lot of our employees have been with us so long they feel like family at this point, and honestly, plenty of our customers have turned into friends too. That's what makes reaching 20 years so special," Danny Trussell said.

The company's growth has been deliberate. After opening in 2006 focused primarily on remodeling, Trussell's added its own granite fabrication shop in 2008, bringing stonework in house instead of outsourcing it. The business moved into its current Albuquerque location in 2015, and cabinet lines were added in 2017, rounding out what had started as a remodeling-only operation. Today, what began as kitchen and bathroom remodeling has grown into a full slate of home improvement services, including cabinets, granite and quartz countertops, flooring, roofing and other residential upgrades, all delivered under one roof.

What sets Trussell's apart, according to the company, is that most of the work inside a customer's home is done by its own employees, not rotating subcontractors. On bigger projects involving several stages and trades, homeowners see the same faces throughout instead of a new crew showing up every week, with one team responsible for the whole job. That approach has helped build a team of 17 employees and a portfolio that now numbers approximately 8,500 projects.

Danny and Christy Trussell currently own the company. Trussell's Transformations holds a New Mexico GB-98 general contractor's license and is a member of both the Home Builders Association of Central New Mexico and the Natural Stone Institute, credentials that reflect two decades of standing behind the work.

For homeowners who want to see the craftsmanship in person, the company invites them to visit its Albuquerque showroom at 8023 Edith Blvd NE. No appointment is necessary. Visitors can browse rows of cabinet styles and door profiles, slabs of granite and quartz in a range of colors and veining, hardware finishes lined up for comparison, and flooring samples underfoot. The design team is available to answer questions and help homeowners start planning. The showroom is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and is closed on weekends.

Trussell's also offers flexible financing options, a decision rooted in the same philosophy that has guided the company for 20 years. Too often, a dream kitchen or long-overdue bathroom gets pushed to "someday," and someday has a way of never arriving. With quick approval and predictable monthly payments, the company wants homeowners to stop waiting and start living in the home they actually want.

As Trussell's Transformations looks to the next chapter, it remains focused on what has guided it for the past two decades. "Twenty years makes us incredibly proud of where we've been, but we're also excited about what comes next. We want to keep helping families create homes that aren't just beautiful, but truly work better for the way they live," co-owner Christy Trussell said.
