Ucore Rare Metals Supports Partner Acquisition of Thailand Rare Earth Processing Facility

Ucore Rare Metals Inc. (TSX.V: UCU) (OTCQX: UURAF) has expressed support for its partner Hastings Technology Metals and Wyloo in acquiring a fully permitted mixed rare earth chloride production facility in Thailand. The move is expected to accelerate near-term processing of monazite feedstock and reinforce a Western-aligned rare earth supply chain. According to the company, this development supports ongoing discussions toward a long-term supply agreement tied to its Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex, as it works to integrate upstream supply with midstream processing and rare earth oxide production capabilities.

The acquisition of the Thailand facility is seen as a strategic step to secure processing capacity outside of China, which dominates the global rare earth market. Monazite, a rare earth phosphate mineral, is a key feedstock for producing separated rare earth oxides used in various high-tech applications, including electric vehicles, wind turbines, and defense systems. By securing a processing facility in Thailand, Hastings and Wyloo aim to expedite the production of mixed rare earth chloride, which can then be further processed into individual rare earth oxides.

Ucore's involvement through its Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex (SMC) positions the company as a midstream processor, converting mixed rare earth chloride into high-purity separated oxides. The SMC is designed to process heavy and light rare earth elements, addressing the critical need for domestic rare earth processing capacity in North America. Ucore's broader strategy includes disrupting China's control over the rare earth supply chain by developing processing facilities in the United States, Canada, and Alaska, alongside its Bokan-Dotson Ridge Rare Heavy REE Project in Southeast Alaska.

The partnership with Hastings and Wyloo underscores Ucore's commitment to building a secure, Western-based rare earth supply chain. The company's vision is to become a leading advanced technology company providing best-in-class metal separation products and services to the mining and mineral extraction industry. This acquisition aligns with that vision by securing upstream supply and processing capabilities.
