UGI Utilities, Inc. has commenced a natural gas main replacement project in Coudersport this week, marking a significant investment in local infrastructure. The system upgrades, which began on October 7, 2025, are part of UGI’s ongoing commitment to providing safe and reliable service to its customers. The project also presents an opportunity for some homes and businesses along the route to convert to natural gas, potentially lowering energy costs and reducing environmental impact.
The underground work will take place on Gardeau Road between Mitcheltree Hollow Lane and Snowflake Drive, as well as on Lacney Hollow Lane. Construction is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During this period, drivers, residents, and business owners may experience road closures, detours, and parking restrictions. Additionally, there will be temporary interruptions to natural gas service, requiring UGI to access properties to inspect and relight equipment.
Installation of the new natural gas main is expected to be completed by early November. Temporary restoration of the affected areas will occur immediately after the underground work is finished, with final paving scheduled for a later date. UGI encourages anyone interested in converting to natural gas to contact the company at 800-276-2722 or via email at gasconversion@ugi.com.
This project underscores UGI’s dedication to modernizing its infrastructure and expanding access to natural gas, which is often a cleaner-burning fuel compared to oil or propane. For more information about UGI Utilities, Inc., visit www.ugi.com.
