UGI Begins Natural Gas Main Replacement Project in Easton

UGI Utilities, Inc. began a natural gas main replacement project today in Easton, as part of its ongoing commitment to provide safe and reliable service. The system upgrades, announced on October 1, 2025, also present an opportunity for some homes and businesses along the project route to convert to natural gas.

Underground work will take place on several streets, including West Wilkes Barre Street between Packer Street and Iron Street, Packer Street between Glendon Avenue and Hoyt Street, and McKeen Street between West Wilkes Barre Street and Hoyt Street. Construction is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During this period, drivers, residents, and business owners may experience road closures, detours, and parking restrictions. There will be some interruptions to natural gas service, requiring UGI to access properties to inspect and relight equipment.

The installation of the new natural gas main is expected to be completed by the end of December, though the completion date may change due to weather and working conditions. Final paving and restoration will occur later. UGI encourages anyone interested in converting to natural gas to contact the company at 800-276-2722 or gasconversion@ugi.com.

This project underscores UGI's dedication to upgrading infrastructure to ensure reliable energy delivery. UGI Utilities, Inc., a natural gas and electric utility company serving more than 760,000 customers, provides additional information at www.ugi.com. The upgrades are critical for maintaining the integrity of the natural gas system in Easton and reducing the risk of leaks or service disruptions.

The work is particularly significant for local residents and businesses, as it may lead to improved service reliability and the potential for natural gas conversion, which can offer cost savings and environmental benefits. By replacing aging mains, UGI aims to enhance safety and support the community's energy needs for years to come.
