UGI Utilities, Inc. is scheduled to begin a natural gas main replacement project in Easton on Tuesday, October 14. The system upgrades are part of UGI’s commitment to provide safe and reliable service, and the work also presents an opportunity for some homes and businesses along the project route to convert to natural gas.
The underground work will occur on William Penn Highway, from Indiana Street to South Nulton Avenue. Construction is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and drivers may experience lane restrictions during this period. There will be some interruptions to natural gas service that will require UGI to have access to properties to inspect and relight equipment.
Installation of the new natural gas main and temporary restoration of the area are expected to be completed by late December, with final paving to happen at a later date. UGI encourages anyone interested in converting to natural gas to contact the company at 800-276-2722 or gasconversion@ugi.com.
This project underscores UGI's ongoing investment in infrastructure to ensure safe and reliable natural gas delivery. The replacement of aging mains reduces the risk of leaks and improves system performance. For residents and businesses along William Penn Highway, the upgrade also provides a chance to connect to natural gas, which can be a more cost-effective and cleaner energy option compared to oil or propane.
UGI Utilities, Inc. is a natural gas and electric utility company that serves more than 760,000 customers. Additional information about UGI Utilities, Inc. is available at www.ugi.com.
The announcement is important because it informs the Easton community about upcoming construction that may affect traffic and utility service, while also highlighting benefits such as enhanced safety and potential fuel conversion. By proactively communicating the timeline and scope of work, UGI aims to minimize disruption and keep residents informed.
