UGI to Start Natural Gas Main Replacements in Lancaster Next Week

UGI Utilities, Inc. is scheduled to begin natural gas main replacement projects in Lancaster on Monday, October 13. The system upgrades are part of UGI’s commitment to provide safe and reliable service. The work also presents an opportunity for some homes and businesses along the project route to convert to natural gas.

The underground work will occur on several streets: South Lime Street between East Vine Street and Howard Avenue; Howard Avenue at South Lime Street; Seymour Street between Fairview Avenue and South Prince Street; Fairview Avenue between 138 Alley and Seymour Street; South Prince Street Intersection at Seymour Street; and the 700 Block of South Prince Street.

Construction is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Drivers, residents, and business owners may experience road closures, detours, and parking restrictions. There will be some interruptions to natural gas service, requiring UGI to access properties to inspect and relight equipment.

Installation of the new natural gas mains is expected to be completed by the end of October. Temporary restoration of the area will occur immediately after the underground work is completed, with final paving scheduled at a later date.

UGI encourages anyone interested in converting to natural gas to contact the company at www.ugi.com or call 800-276-2722.
