UGI Utilities Announces 0.9% Bill Increase Due to Higher Natural Gas Supply Costs

UGI Utilities, Inc. has announced a 0.9% increase in the average residential heating customer's total monthly bill, effective December 1, 2025. The increase, smaller than initially expected, is driven by a rise in the purchased gas cost rate, which utilities are required by law to pass through to customers without markup. The average monthly bill for heating customers will rise from $118.43 to $119.49.

This adjustment reflects the fluctuating costs of natural gas on the wholesale market, which UGI procures to supply its customers. By law, the company cannot profit from the price of the gas itself, only from the delivery and service charges. The purchased gas cost rate is reviewed periodically to align with market conditions, and this latest change comes as part of that process.

Recognizing that some customers may face difficulty paying their heating bills, UGI emphasizes the availability of assistance programs. Customers with limited or fixed incomes are encouraged to visit UGI's customer assistance page or call 1-800-UGI-WARM to check eligibility for various energy assistance programs. UGI can also help eligible customers apply for federally funded Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) grants when the application process opens on December 3.

In addition to these programs, UGI offers budget billing, which spreads annual costs into equal monthly payments, and multiple payment options such as the online account center and mobile app, as well as an auto-pay program. These tools are designed to help customers manage their bills more effectively.

UGI also encourages customers to use energy wisely and implement efficiency improvements in their homes. Tips and information on energy-saving programs are available at UGI's energy saving tips page. By reducing consumption, customers can mitigate the impact of the rate increase.

UGI Utilities, Inc. serves more than 760,000 customers as a natural gas and electric utility company. Additional information about the company and its services can be found at UGI's website.
