Verite Capital Partners has appointed Sumit Majumdar as Vice Chairman, Chief Sustainability Officer, and Operating Partner, marking a significant expansion of the firm's commitment to environmental sustainability, industrial job creation, and economic development for underserved populations. Don Jones, Chairman and Managing Partner of Verite Capital Partners, announced the appointment, citing Majumdar's vision and direction for economically viable green initiatives in employment, energy, and agriculture.
Jones brings nearly 50 years of executive leadership experience from roles at Macy's, IKEA, GAP, and Target. Since founding Verite in 2009, he has focused on scaling capital access and corporate education for diverse entrepreneurs. Jones serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Felician University, where he received the 2024 Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award, and sits on the boards of Nuvance Health and Northwell Health.
Majumdar's appointment builds on a nearly two-year mentorship under Jones. Following a 20-year tenure as President of Buffalo Biodiesel Inc., Majumdar will oversee Verite's strategic commitment to Buffalo Biodiesel, expanding both domestically and internationally. Verite manages $7 billion in current obligations and over $20 billion in committed investments.
In his new roles, Majumdar will lead an international initiative to establish more than one million green jobs globally while reducing worldwide carbon emissions by one percent, scaling subsequent operations within that ratio. The metric-driven target is to build infrastructure capable of mobilizing 100 million individuals to secure environmental viability for future generations.
Majumdar brings expertise in industrial scaling, circular economy frameworks, and advanced material science. He grew Buffalo Biodiesel into a multi-state enterprise serving over 30,000 locations and is the architect behind "Project Green Logic," a carbon-negative industrial hub. He has engineered international waste-to-energy frameworks across Ghana, Nigeria, and Mexico and is a key proponent of the GWP20 accounting standard for rigorous climate impact accuracy.
