NEW YORK — Verizon (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) today announced a sweeping overhaul of its consumer offerings, eliminating activation and upgrade fees, introducing simplified plans, and launching a new loyalty program designed to reward all customers. The move represents a significant shift in the wireless industry, where complex plans and hidden fees have long been the norm.
As part of the transformation, Verizon introduced "Verizon Simplicity," a plan priced at $45 per line ($30 promotional for switchers) that includes access to Verizon’s best 5G network with no network tiers. The company also launched "Verizon One," a combined mobile and home internet plan for $70 per month with taxes and fees included. Both plans aim to reduce complexity and provide transparent pricing.
In an industry first, Verizon is eliminating activation and upgrade fees for all postpaid customers who opt into the new Verizon Loyalty program. The fees, typically up to $40 per device, have been a common pain point for consumers. Customers can opt in through the My Verizon app.
Verizon Loyalty also introduces "Verizon Dollars," a rewards program that gives customers 3% back monthly on their bills, redeemable for devices, accessories, or up to 5x value from brands like Sephora, Hilton, Marriott, and Starbucks. Additionally, the "Verizon Shine" sweepstakes offers weekly chances to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including tickets to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, VIP access to concerts, and travel packages.
"We’re fundamentally reshaping Verizon inside and out to put the customer at the center of everything we do," said Dan Schulman, Verizon CEO. "For too long, this industry has burdened people with complex plans, forced upgrades they don’t need, and so-called ‘rewards’ with tons of caveats."
The announcement is part of Verizon’s multi-year transformation aimed at simplifying customer experiences and reducing churn. The company expects the new offerings to be accretive to revenue and EBITDA growth while maintaining its 2026 financial guidance.
