VivaTech 2026 Hong Kong Tech Pavilion Connects Local Start-ups With European Opportunities

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), together with strategic partner the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels and supporting organisations, hosted the Hong Kong Tech Pavilion at VivaTech 2026 in Paris, showcasing 24 local innovation and technology enterprises and institutions to global investors.

During the exhibition, thematic seminars, start-up pitching sessions and networking events were held to facilitate industry exchanges and business matching, helping local start-ups seize opportunities in the European market. HKTDC's Chris Lo, Regional Director for Europe, Central Asia & Israel, stated that the pavilion achieved excellent results, facilitating multiple cross-border collaborations and building on connections from last year.

Among the participants, Formwork IO, which develops carbon-negative construction materials, was selected as a top 30 finalist for VivaTech's "Tech for Change" Award. Additionally, PointFit Technology and Robocore Technology Limited were chosen to give live demonstrations at VivaTech's Discovery Stage. These achievements highlight the innovative capabilities of Hong Kong start-ups in health technology and artificial intelligence.

Several participating companies established connections with European partners. Robocare Technology is negotiating with JCDecaux for a cooperation agreement to provide 1,000 robots for marketing campaigns. Robocore Technology CEO Lim Long-hei noted that the connections built through the pavilion over the past two years have enabled deeper collaboration with European multinationals. LeafIoT Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Politecnico di Milano to collaborate on smart tree monitoring solutions. Managing Director Chan Pak-wan expressed hope to extend Hong Kong's industry-university-research model into Europe and achieve five- to ten-fold business growth.

The HKTDC also hosted a seminar titled "Building Resilient Tech Ecosystems: Powering the Next Wave of International Tech Leadership from Hong Kong" on 19 June. Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic & Trade Affairs to the European Union, Shirley Yung, highlighted Hong Kong's advantages: top-tier research and talent, global capital, access to the Greater Bay Area, and connectivity to global markets. Chief Executive Officer Terry Wong from HKSTPC and Chief Innovation Officer Yonghai Du from HKPC discussed how Hong Kong's regulatory frameworks and technical support enable European companies to explore Eastern markets.

The HKTDC continues to support local enterprises through major international tech exhibitions. Following CES 2026 in Las Vegas, MWC and 4YFN in Barcelona, the HKTDC again organised the Hong Kong Tech Pavilion at VivaTech. The 10th VivaTech attracted participants from over 165 countries and regions, with more than 15,000 start-ups and 200,000 visitors. The pavilion is a flagship initiative under the "Economic and Trade Express" in Europe, with additional events providing targeted support for Hong Kong tech start-ups exploring the local market.
