VOCIC has launched the U32 Ultra Lightweight Manual Wheelchair, a foldable, self-propelled wheelchair designed to simplify everyday mobility for seniors, caregivers, and families. With a 23 lb aluminum frame and a total weight of 35 lb including wheels and leg rests, the U32 aims to provide dependable seated mobility without the bulk and strain often associated with traditional manual wheelchairs.
For many families, a wheelchair is not just for medical appointments or occasional outings; it becomes part of daily life. Moving between rooms, transferring from bed to chair, loading into a car trunk, navigating narrow hallways, and helping a loved one stay involved in family routines are common scenarios. The U32 addresses these needs with a lightweight foldable frame, quick-release rear wheels, adjustable caregiver handles, flip-up armrests, swing-in/out footrests, and a safety-focused braking system.
“Everyday mobility should feel less complicated for both the user and the caregiver,” said Michael, CEO of VOCIC. “The U32 was designed around the real moments families manage every day, from getting through a doorway to transferring beside a bed, loading the chair into a vehicle, or heading out for an appointment.”
Traditional manual wheelchairs can be challenging in real home environments. Heavy frames, bulky folding sizes, fixed armrests and footrests, and push handles that force caregivers to bend are common frustrations. The U32 was developed to reduce these issues by balancing portability, comfort, adjustability, and safety.
At the center of the U32 is a lightweight aluminum frame, which folds to a compact 12.6” x 26.8” size, making it easier to store in a closet or place in a vehicle. Quick-release rear wheels add portability by allowing wheels to be removed for tighter storage. This design is especially practical for caregivers who regularly load and unload a wheelchair.
Transfers are a critical aspect of wheelchair use. The U32 includes flip-up armrests and swing-in/out footrests to create a clearer transfer path, reducing obstruction between the user and the destination surface. Height-adjustable armrests and adjustable footplates allow users to better match the chair to their body position, while a 17.7” wide by 17” deep seat with a breathable cushion supports comfort.
The U32 is designed for the caregiver as well. Rear push handles offer four levels of height adjustment, from about 37” to 40.5”/40.6”, allowing caregivers of different heights to push more comfortably. A rear stepper tube helps tilt the wheelchair when navigating small curbs or obstacles. The chair supports both user and caregiver control with user-operated hand brakes and caregiver-operated handle brakes.
Safety features include user hand brakes, caregiver handle brakes, rear reflectors for visibility, a safety belt, an anti-tip device, and a reinforced Double-X Base frame. These features are designed to support safer everyday use when properly fitted and operated.
The U32 is made for the places where mobility support is needed most often. Its narrow frame, with an overall width below 25.6 inches, helps it move through standard narrow doorways and tight corridors. It is suitable for moving between rooms, doctor appointments, family visits, car transfers, and assisted or self-propelled movement on appropriate surfaces.
For seniors and families looking for a manual wheelchair that is easier to fold, carry, adjust, and use in daily routines, the U32 offers a practical balance of lightweight design and everyday support. VOCIC, a mobility solutions brand, focuses on helping older adults and people with mobility needs move with greater comfort, confidence, and independence.
