Westerra Credit Union has donated $43,600 to local educational initiatives through its School Grant Program, following the conclusion of the 'Westerra Walks for Education' program at Coors Field. The program, launched at the start of Major League Baseball’s 2025 season, pledged $200 to local classrooms for every walk by the Colorado Rockies at home. As of September 21, 2025, the Rockies had 218 walks at Coors Field, resulting in the total contribution.
The effort underscores Westerra’s broader commitment to educators and its partnership with the Rockies. At the season’s start, fans joined the credit union to honor Julie Weathers, a 27-year teaching veteran, who threw the ceremonial first pitch during Teacher Appreciation Week. Weathers was selected by community members for her role as an all-star educator.
“At Westerra, every decision is made right here in Colorado by people who understand our community,” said Nicole Andrushko, VP of Marketing. “Supporting educators isn’t just a priority for us – it’s part of our DNA. We’re proud to stand beside the teachers who inspire the next generation of leaders.”
Founded by eight schoolteachers in 1934, Westerra Credit Union has a long history of supporting education.
