The Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center, known as the Wooten Center, has announced the inaugural John Lapham Golf Classic, a fundraising event renamed to honor the legacy of its long-time board member and chairperson, John G. Lapham III. The tournament, scheduled for Monday, November 17, at Porter Valley Country Club in Northridge, California, will support the organization’s college and career readiness programs for thousands of youth in Los Angeles.
Formerly called the Wooten Golf Classic, the event has been rebranded this year to celebrate Lapham’s contributions. “This tournament brings together the heart of our community to honor John’s legacy and invest in our youth. His commitment to education and opportunity continues to guide our work every day,” said Corey Dantzler, Executive Director of the Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center.
The day’s activities include a full round of golf, a putting contest, lunch on the course, and a silent auction, culminating with an awards dinner at 5 p.m. Sponsorship opportunities range from the Sapphire level at $50,000, which includes four foursomes, down to the Bronze level at $1,500 for one foursome. Additional contest entries and individual tickets are also available. Interested parties can register via the online RSVP form or review sponsorship details at the event website.
