XTI Aerospace Backs FAA eVTOL Integration Program, Targets 2027 for TriFan 600 Demonstrator

XTI Aerospace, Inc. (NASDAQ: XTIA) has voiced its support for the Federal Aviation Administration’s new Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), a national initiative designed to accelerate certification, testing, and airspace access for powered-lift aircraft. The announcement underscores the U.S. commitment to vertical flight as XTI advances its TriFan 600, an aircraft that combines helipad and short-runway operation with fixed-wing business jet performance.

Scott Pomeroy, CEO of XTI Aerospace, stated that the FAA’s program signals a strong governmental push to integrate eVTOL aircraft into the national airspace. The eIPP aims to streamline regulatory pathways and foster collaboration between industry and regulators, which is critical for companies like XTI that are developing novel aircraft. XTI has already flown its Sparrow and Kestrel prototypes and is preparing its TriHawk prototype, with a target of a full-scale TriFan 600 demonstrator for 2027.

The TriFan 600 is designed to offer the vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capability of a helicopter while achieving maximum cruising speeds of over 300 mph and a range of up to 1,000 miles. This combination creates a new category of aircraft known as xVTOL. XTI Aerospace, headquartered near Denver, Colorado, is the parent company of XTI Aircraft Company and also owns the Inpixon business unit, which is a leader in real-time location systems (RTLS) technology for industrial facilities.

The FAA’s eIPP is part of a broader effort to safely integrate powered-lift aircraft into the national airspace system. By participating in this program, XTI Aerospace hopes to benefit from streamlined certification processes and collaborative testing opportunities. The company’s progress with its prototypes and its roadmap toward a 2027 demonstrator align with the goals of the eIPP to accelerate the deployment of eVTOL technology.
