The Georgia Latino Film Alliance (GALFA) has announced that Academy Award-nominated actress Yalitza Aparicio will be honored with the Georgia Latino Film Alliance Icon Award during the 15th Annual Georgia Latino International Film Festival (GALIFF XV), scheduled for September 30–October 4, 2026, at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The award recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to the visibility and advancement of Latino culture in film and entertainment.
Aparicio gained worldwide acclaim for her role in Alfonso Cuarón's Roma, earning an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Her performance brought unprecedented attention to Mexican and Latino talent, making her a powerful symbol of cultural pride.
